A detailed how-to for getting the drive properly replaced and then the new drive added is located here: http://consultancy.edvoncken.net/ind...oftware_RAID-5
However, if you are getting errors like
'no superblock on /dev/sdb1' when trying to add the new drive to the array, you can try running the following:
Code:
mdadm --create /dev/md0 --level=5 --raid-devices=5 /dev/sd[d-h]1
This will recreate the array, called /dev/md0, raid5 with 5 devices, using disks sdd through sdh, and you can then rebuild it, later accessing the files after having it mounted.
You then need to be sure to update your fstab correctly and your mdamd.conf file.
Another great thread that will help with this: http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/inde...t-1753997.html
There are some several very useful suggestions on how to re-add a new drive to the array.
AYK Solutions has been the server for my website for 8 or 9 years, and in all that time I have gotten nothing but expeditious, professional, friendly, and excellent service from them. I am being honest about this. They have my highest recommendations.
Hi Guys and Gals, I'll just say you all are top notch and go above and behind with support. I've tested many other companies none compare to the expertise you all. Previously I would just get a ticked bumped up to a higher level of tier support etc. with AYK everyone is knowledgeable and prompt. Thank you for offering a premium hosting solution. Warm Regards, Johnny
I've been a client of AYK Solutions for about six months now. They have provided the best overall experience I have had in over 10 years. I've tried iWeb, SingleHop, and a few others supposed to be the so-called best. Specifically, you are dealing with personal, professionals with AYK Solutions, and they are willing to help when all others want to charge you $** for this and $**/hr for that. I'm happy, and have no plans of going anywhere else; ever.
