You will need to first grant ssh access for yourself via the control panel.
1. Login to ServerCP using your root login.
2. Click on 'SSH' in the left menu.
3. Choose your account and enable shell for it.
4. Put in your local IP address into the text field and click the "Add IP". This will allow you to login locally.
Now that you have that setup, open up your favorite ssh client (putty is a good one) and put in the server's IP address.
1. For user put the username you enabled ssh for. Then that user's password. You should now have logged in as that user.
2. To login as root type the 'su' command (without any quotes).
3. At password prompt, put in the root password and you're ready to go!
The above is assuming you're using an RH-based distro.
I recently switched to AYK Solutions from Softlayer for my dedicated server requirements. I received a much better specification server at significantly reduced cost from what Softlayer could offer me, with many of the previously 'extra' features at Softlayer included in the base price offered by AYK. The support was second to none, and they were extremely helpful in transferring all of my old server accounts over for no additional fee whatsoever.
I have been a client for many years now. They always answer to my needs, and keep their prices affordable. I will continue with them in the future.
Hi Guys and Gals, I'll just say you all are top notch and go above and behind with support. I've tested many other companies none compare to the expertise you all. Previously I would just get a ticked bumped up to a higher level of tier support etc. with AYK everyone is knowledgeable and prompt. Thank you for offering a premium hosting solution. Warm Regards, Johnny
