To kill off TCP connections, you can use the 'tcpkill' command which is part of the dsniff package and can be installed/downloaded from here: http://monkey.org/%7Edugsong/dsniff/
Syntax:
tcpkill -i eth0 { expression }
Examples:
(a) Kill all outgoing ftp (port 21) connection:
tcpkill -i eth0 port 21
(b) Kill all all packets arriving at or departing from host 192.168.1.2 (host12.nixcraft.com)
tcpkill host 192.168.1.2
OR
tcpkill host host12.nixcraft.com
(c) To kill all IP packets between 192.168.1.2 and any host except 192.168.1.111, type the following:
tcpkill ip host 192.168.1.2 and not 192.168.1.111
After that, you can setup the ddos mitigation script and that should greatly improve the server's performance.
I have had my hosting with AYK since 2006, and it has by far been the best experience I have ever had with any hosting company. The support is always spot on and available around the clock, excellent for me since I'm always working on things at odd hours. They make upgrading to fit needs very clean and easy, the cost is excellent for services received, and they have me as a customer for life.
AYK Solutions has provided me with a very cost effective hosting service with great uptime and lots of features. I would not hesitate to recommend them!
AYKSolutions is thee best hosting solution I have found in 10 years of searching. I'm very grateful of the services they provide. Such a vast variety to host whatever you desire at a great rate. The support team has always been great, always get a reply within 4 Hours of posting, usually way before 4H. I have a range of 1-10gbit machines and they've always kept up with premium standards. Networks they sell are premium, guaranteed. Thank you, AYK :)
